Connect/Gateway panel guide: Ziton ZP3

In walk test mode, the ZP3 does not output Fire alarm events to Z-port 1, as a result will not be recorded by any Nimbus hardware.

You must isolate/disable all output devices before testing and leave Walk Test mode disabled.

Equipment required

  • A Nimbus Connect or Fixed Gateway device

  • 3 Core Screened Data Cable

Panel configuration

  1. Press [Menu]

  2. Select [option 3 Setup]

  3. Enter Commissioning code

  4. Select [option 6 System Configuration]

  5. Select [option 3 Peripheral Communication]

  6. Select [option 1 Communications parameters]

    1. Set Z-port to 1

    2. Choose Protocol:

      1. [04] ZCP2 (Single & Text) – For panels running 3.11 or later

      2. [07] ZCP2 (Single+) – For panels on pre 3.11

  7. Check/Set frame to 9600

  8. Check/Set frame to 8N1 – See note below

If Z-Port 1 is used for configuration, the protocol of the port will default to 'EVEN' parity. If there are issues appearing in the event log, change the parity on the panel to 'NONE'.

Wiring

Using 3 core screened data cable, wire as follows:

Z-Port 1 Nimbus RS232
PCRx Tx
SG Ground
PCTx Rx

Troubleshooting

I keep getting the same event being communicated Nimbus continuously

The panel transmitting each event 10 times until an acknowledgement is received from Nimbus, and then it will send the next event.

This issue appears when the wiring (panel communication) from the mainboard to Nimbus hardware is not faulty or incorrect. To resolve this, check the wiring is secure and fault free as per the instructions above.

Reporting the same event at a very high frequency

This is a known issue with this panel model, where a protocol corruption has occurred. Power cycle the fire panel to fix this issue.
