Fixed Gateway digital inputs

Introduction

Fixed Gateway has 4 programmable volt-free contacts, such as a switch or relay contact, which can be configured in Nimbus.

Configuration

In the Nimbus portal, select the Equipment which the Gateway is assigned to. Select edit and you will find the Digital Inputs section where you can configure them.

Subscribing notifications

Subscribing to notifications is the same as any other Equipment, by selecting the Equipment and a User except that you have to click on the << Digital Inputs button to see the Digital Input groups to subscribe to.

Wiring

Please see the diagram below explaining the signal that the Digital Inputs expect and how you can configure actions for the Rising or Falling edges.

On the gateway there are 4 Digital Inputs and 2 Common terminals.

(Default) By default both Common terminals will output 3.8Vdc which can be connected to any volt-free contacts, such as a switch or relay contact. This mode relies on a non-isolated internal voltage source.

These must not be used to drive any load as this may cause damage to the Gateway, the maximum current draw is 1mA.

Use this alternative configuration if isolation is required. An external voltage source must be used (9-36 Vdc) in conjunction with the switch or relay contacts.

Removal of the Gateway cover is required, which will also entail removal of the Gateway from the metal enclosure.

Notes

  • Either Common terminal can be used which ever best suits the installation
  • Events from Digital Inputs will be shown in the Event Log with other events
  • The panel will always be 0 with the description Digital Inputs
  • The loop will always be 0
  • The address will be the Input Number
  • Digital Input state changes must persist for 3 seconds before they are reported to Nimbus
